Remaining Righteous and Devout

As we await the Lord's return, we must live righteously and remain devoted to God. Simeon provides an excellent example of this. The Bible describes him as a righteous and devout man filled with the Holy Spirit (Luke 2:25). Simeon diligently waited for the Messiah and spent his time in the temple, worshiping God.

We too must emulate Simeon's righteous living and devotion to the Lord. It is easy to become distracted and lax in our faith as we go about our daily lives. However, we must live upright, moral lives that honor God while anticipating Jesus' second coming. We should regularly spend time in God's presence through prayer, worship, and reading Scripture. This helps keep our focus on the Lord and our lives aligned with His will.

Remaining righteous requires actively turning away from sinful behaviors that grieve the Spirit. Instead of being consumed with the temporal things of this world, we must set our hearts and minds on the eternal. This includes demonstrating the fruits of the Spirit like love, joy, peace, patience, and self-control. As we wait expectantly for our Savior, living righteously ushers us into closer communion with Him. From this posture of devotion, we will be ready for Christ's return, just as Simeon waited so diligently to see God's promise fulfilled.
